How to get to Ioannina
Access to Ioannina is easy thanks to the development of transportation network.
It only takes 2 hours from Thessaloniki (261km via Egnatia motorway) and 3,5 hours in the near future from Athens (420km). You can take Olympia motorway from Athens to Patras and then Ionia motorway from Patras to Ioannina.

Starting from an island or Italy you could also reach Ioannina by ferry boat. As soon as you arrive at the port of Igoumenitsa, you can arrive in Ioannina by car something which will only take you 40 minutes.
Also, you can get to Ioannina by plane since Ioannina is served by frequent air flights to and from King Pyrrus airport. Specifically, there are two flights daily from Athens to Ioannina. The airport is expected to expand and have new lines in the near future. Lastly, access to the city can be achieved via the airport of Aktio in Preveza which is a 50 minute distance from Ioannina.
